How We Use AI to Keep Our Prices Honest

We use AI tools to work faster and pass the savings on. Here's exactly where AI fits in our process and where it doesn't.

Last updated: May 2026

A brand and website project from a traditional agency costs £10,000 to £20,000. We charge from £6,000 for the same scope. The difference is not that we cut corners. The difference is how we work.

In brief: We use AI tools for code scaffolding, layout prototyping, content drafting, and image processing. These tasks used to consume 30 to 40% of project time. Automating them lets us focus human time on brand strategy, conversion design, SEO architecture, and the thinking that determines whether a website actually works. The result: agency-quality output at honest prices.

Where AI fits in our process

Code scaffolding. When we start building a website, AI generates the initial component structures, page layouts, and responsive grids. What used to take a developer two days now takes two hours. The output is a starting point, not a finished product. We review, refine, and rebuild every component to meet production standards.

Layout prototyping. In the exploration phase, we use AI to generate multiple layout directions quickly. Instead of spending three days on two options, we can explore five directions in a day. The client sees more options sooner and makes better-informed decisions.

Content first drafts. AI generates initial drafts of page copy, meta descriptions, and FAQ content. Every word is edited for voice, accuracy, and specificity. The AI eliminates the blank page. The human ensures the content sounds like the brand and says something worth reading.

Image processing. Background removal, format conversion, optimisation, and resizing. Tasks that added hours to every project now take minutes. For a project with 30 product images, this saves an entire day of production work.

Where AI does not fit

Brand strategy. Understanding who your business is, who it serves, how it should be perceived, and what makes it different from competitors. This requires conversation, research, judgement, and the ability to take a position. AI cannot do this. We do not try to make it.

Conversion design. Deciding where CTAs go, what objections to address, whether pricing should be visible, how the user journey should flow. These decisions require understanding your specific customers and your specific market. AI places elements. We design experiences.

SEO and GEO architecture. Keyword strategy, content planning, internal linking, schema markup, and the structured content that makes your site visible to both Google and AI search tools (/thinking/what-is-geo). This is strategic work that requires competitive analysis and market understanding.

Quality assurance. AI-generated code works but contains accessibility issues, performance gaps, and security omissions. Every line of code is reviewed by a human before it ships. We do not deliver AI output. We deliver production-grade work that was accelerated by AI.

Design refinement. The difference between a website that looks acceptable and one that feels premium is in the details: typography spacing, colour balance, animation timing, hover states, mobile interactions. These micro-decisions require taste, experience, and obsessive attention. AI does not have taste.

The pricing impact

Traditional agency process: 200 hours across strategy, design, development, content, and QA. At £75 per hour, that is £15,000.

Our process: AI handles roughly 60 hours of mechanical work. We spend 120 human hours on strategy, design refinement, SEO, and quality assurance. At £50 per hour effective rate, the project costs £6,000. The client gets the same depth of thinking and a higher standard of technical execution.

This is not a race to the bottom. We are not cheaper because we do less. We are cheaper because modern tools let us do the same work in less time. The savings go to the client, not into padding the invoice.

What this means for you

When you hire Anatra (/pricing), you are paying for strategic thinking, design judgement, and technical expertise. You are not paying for a human to manually write boilerplate code, resize images one by one, or set up basic page structures by hand. AI handles that. We handle everything AI cannot.

The result is a brand and website that matches the quality of agencies charging twice as much, delivered in six to eight weeks, at a price that respects your budget. That is what tech-enabled means. Not AI-generated. Tech-enabled.

Frequently asked questions

Does using AI mean the work is lower quality?

No. AI accelerates the mechanical parts. The strategic and creative parts receive more attention because we are not spending time on scaffolding. The final output is reviewed, refined, and quality-assured by a human. Nothing ships without professional review.

Can I tell if AI was used in my project?

You should not be able to. The AI output is a starting point that gets extensively refined. The finished website reflects brand strategy, design thinking, and production standards that AI cannot produce on its own.

Why don't all agencies use AI to lower their prices?

Some do. Many do not because their business model depends on billing hours, and AI reduces billable hours. Others lack the technical skill to integrate AI tools effectively. The agencies that adapt will be more competitive. Those that do not will become more expensive relative to the market.

Is it ethical to use AI in client work?

Yes, when disclosed and used responsibly. We are transparent about our process. AI is a tool, like Figma or VS Code. The value you pay for is the strategic thinking and quality assurance, not the specific tools used to get there.
